I’ve said it before, and I will say it again…Wow! 2020 has been one wild ride! Between Covid-19 and the chaos that followed, I think 2020 taught all of us, including myself that we can get through A LOT. I remember the small amount of news media coverage in December of 2019, about the virus, and how it had swept Wuhan China. I’m a preparer, and I sometimes get a little frantic about things, so I rushed to my local hardware store and purchased some N-95 masks. The checkout woman looked at me like I was crazy because I had bought 8 of them, 2 for each family member. There was an older gentleman behind me that had purchased all the rest. We were getting ready, and it wasn’t much longer before the rest of the world caught on, and chaos ensued. You know the rest of the story…
Regardless of how we feel, 2021 will also be full of surprises. Are you ready for them? Do you plan for things? When I was a teenager I never planned, everything was on a whim. I think I enjoyed the chaos a bit and it kept things interesting. 2 kids later, a husband, and a business forces me to plan almost everything, from the clothes they will wear for the week, to meal planning, to budgeting, to marketing, etc. You name it! I have brainstormed things that I want to plan for this year for my photography business. For one, I want to reach a lot more people. Photography interestingly enough has a very low pay to play. Anyone can do it, and so there are many in the area. One goal is to set myself apart. I believe that I have done that by the various beautiful heirlooms that I offer, but I know that I also have to put myself out there more. I need to get in the community more and I plan to do so if 2021 allows it. I have some very cool programs coming out for my fellow moms who would love to earn perks. I’m launching a modeling campaign for the first quarter to work with some fresh faces, and I’m planning on teaming up with another local business. So there are some pretty neat things going on!
I still stand on the thought that I need to be more present in life, to be there with and for my kids, to enjoy them while they are this age. My son is almost 12, and I can’t believe it, every day he grows a foot – I swear! My daughter is still so little, and I really want to capture in my memory her sweet little voice, and how she looks at life so magical. I want to make sure to never forget that about her!
How about you? I know we typically say “I want to lose weight, make more money, etc..”, but what are resolutions that don’t necessarily advance you in the physical or material? What about emotional resolutions? 2020 has done a number on all of us, emotionally, for better or worse. To be optimistic, have you planned for a better emotional 2021? To see hope for our future? I’m working on it, and I hope you are too! Let’s do it together, yeah?
Wishing you a bright, fulfilled, and excited 2021!
